Dear alumni and friends,

In the past 70 years, the Faculty of Science has made significant contributions to science education and research in the region and the world, and our Platinum Jubilee is a perfect time to reflect on our past and celebrate the future. Education has always been the Faculty's foremost mission. With the new 4-year undergraduate curriculum in the horizon, preparation of a new curriculum is in full steam. For the Faculty to continue to pursue excellence in student development and academic achievements, your support is vital.

In recent years, some of our students have taken the advantages of the student enrichment programmes, such as the exchange programme and other learning opportunities to broaden their horizon. However, due to severe funding limitations, only less than 5% of our students were able to participate in these programmes. It is hoped that the setting up of the “70th Anniversary Alumni Fund‿ would make possible some resources to support student developments, and provide financial subsidies to top students who could not otherwise afford in the participation of environmental protection programmes, field trips and research fellowship programmes, etc. The target of the fund is HKD 7 million, and part of the capital will be deposited to generate interest to sustain the fund. Your contribution is an investment in our students and the next generation. A Board of Trustee will be formed to monitor the usage of the fund.
